The 17-year-old girl, accompanied by her lawyer, presented herself to authorities 12 days after the alleged crime.
A 17-year-old girl, identified as the prime suspect in the murder of her father, 48-year-old lawyer Joselito de Carvalho Ferreira, has surrendered to the Civil Police in Gurupi, Tocantins. She presented herself at the 12th Police Station on Tuesday (2 December), accompanied by her lawyer and a legal representative, following a 12-day search.
The crime occurred on 21 November at a residence in the Nova Fronteira neighbourhood. According to the investigation, Ferreira was killed by knife wounds to the neck. His body was discovered in the backyard of the property.
Investigation and Custody
The Tocantins Public Security Secretariat (SSP) confirmed the teenager's surrender. A custody order was executed, and she was handed over to the state's Socio-Educational System. The investigation remains under judicial secrecy due to the suspect being a minor.
Following the alleged crime, the suspect fled the scene in a white car, which was later found abandoned near the Vaquejada Park. Initial police reports suggested she had entered a wooded area, prompting a significant search operation in the region.
