Palmas City Hall notifies over 4,400 drivers for traffic violations
Motorists have 30 days to identify the offending driver or present a defence against the fine.
The City Hall of Palmas has published official notices notifying more than 4,400 motorists for traffic violations. The drivers have a 30-day period to either identify the driver responsible for the infraction or submit a formal defence against the fine.
The documents are available in the Municipal Official Gazette. According to the publication, the defence must be sent to the Traffic Authority of the Municipal Secretariat of Security and Urban Mobility (Semob).
How to Present a Defence
To submit a defence, a formal request with justification, evidence, a copy of the vehicle registration document (CRLV), personal identification, and, when necessary, a power of attorney are required. Companies must also attach their articles of incorporation and a document proving representation.
The defence can be presented in person at Resolve Palmas service centres, online via the Semob Traffic Fines Portal, or by post. To identify the driver responsible for the infraction, the corresponding form available on the Semob portal must be used.
Consequences of Non-Compliance
Defences submitted after the deadline, without proof of legitimacy, without a signature, or not in accordance with legislation will be disregarded, the notice states.
The move is part of the city's ongoing traffic enforcement efforts. The publication of such notices is a standard administrative procedure to formalise the notification process and ensure drivers are aware of their right to appeal.
